About this programme
Most floral design courses teach you to plan an arrangement and then source the flowers. This course flips that. You will learn to visit a market or grower, see what is genuinely good that week, and build something beautiful from that starting point.
Working with seasonal constraints
Seasonal floristry is partly a mindset shift. When you stop trying to force a particular flower into every season, your arrangements start to look more cohesive because the materials naturally belong together. The course covers what is typically available across each Australian season and how to spot quality at a wholesale or farmers market.
You will also learn how to negotiate with growers, what quantities make sense for home practice, and how to store different flower types so nothing goes to waste between sessions.
Design without a fixed palette
Several lessons focus on building arrangements from a limited, unexpected selection. One exercise involves designing three different arrangements from the same bucket of flowers, which sharpens your ability to see multiple possibilities in the same material.
The course includes a session on pricing and selling arrangements at local markets, for anyone interested in turning the skill into occasional income. Results depend entirely on your local market conditions and the time you put in.
Lessons include video walkthroughs of actual market visits so you can see the selection and decision-making process in real time.Programme outline
